EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK 2012 WEEKS AVAILABLE
No kayaking experience necessary! In February and March, we head south to Kayak in Everglades National Park. We've been leading trips in the Everglades for 16 years now. Typical weather is 75-85 day time/55-65 night temps. and best of all few, if any insects. Its the best time of year to visit the Everglades. Wildlife is abundant and we typically see: ospreys, egrets, herons, brown and white pelicans, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, manatees, many forms of sealife such as starfish, conch, crabs, fish and much more. Be sure to bring your camera. The shelling is also incredible with a large variety of perfect shells of all kinds. We paddle out on a Monday from Everglades City, Florida near Naples and return on a Friday for the 5 day trip. We camp on deserted islands with sugar-fine, white sand beaches. You don't need any kayaking experience just average physical ability and an adventurers heart. While the trip is camping only, you can choose to add a motel the night before or after the trip or camp with us at an inland camping site. We meet the night before our trip where we introduce you to your kayak, go over the trip plan, fit you for gear, give you any instruction you may need then go have a group dinner together or you can head back to your lodging. In the morning, we meet at our pre-arranged time and location usually around 8-8:30am in the morning and pack up. We head out stopping to look at the birds, dolphins, other wildlife and lunch along the way. We usually paddle 4 -5 hours and then set up a base camp when we reach our destination. Once settled we start dinner and collect firewood for the fire while you can choose to take a nap, read, swim, sun or whatever you choose. After dinner, we always have a campfire to sit around and look at the stars, talk and just enjoy being outdoors. In the morning, we get up and get your coffee and breakfast ready. You can get up anytime you wish. After breakfast you can elect to go along on one of the day paddling trips to explore other islands or just hang out on the beach and fish, sun or read. Or you can paddle one day and relax the next. Lodging packages for before and after kayak trip are available. You can drive and meet us in Everglades City, Florida or fly to Fort Myers , Florida airport and rent a car or you can arrange for us to pick you up We supply everything and you just show up: Includes all the above plus 3 outstanding meals* a day and tent, kayaks, guide and all related paddling gear and permits. You need to provide your own sleeping bag and sleeping pad. ( We have sleeping bag and pad rentals available if needed.) *A typical days meals: Breakfast - coffee, tea, juice, homemade granola and yogurt, pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage, fruit, fresh baked goodies. Lunch - sandwiches, fresh fruit, beverages, fresh vegetables, dessert. Dinner - appetizers and wine or non-alcoholic beverages, seafood, steaks, or pasta, fresh vegetables, dessert. If you don't feel like paddling both ways, you can opt to dropped off at the camping site with your kayak on our skiff. There is an extra cost for this service of $50-$75 depending on how many people elect this option. You can also opt to be brought back if you like and just paddle during the days. We can tailor the trip for just about any group or interests. Choose from the following trips: 1)
